For the past 2 terms the whole school have been working on a production, We have been learning about taongas such as the taiaha, patu, poi, and rākau, which are more than just physical objects – they hold cultural, historical, and spiritual meaning. we have been researching about these taongas.
Last term learnt how to use rakau and research about rakau because we had to teach the teina how to use them in our production. I was a bit anxious teaching the teina because I can’t really handle kids’behaviour. It was a bit stressful teaching the teina because they weren’t really focused on learning the rakau, they were more focused on banging them on the floor and it was really hard to get they’re attention and focus. They kept banging they’re hands together when they were meant to bang the rakau together to make the beat.
